I have to say, and I’m trying to remain positive here, Lil C needs to get to the point quicker than what he does. He uses so many analogies that by the time he’s done, I forgot what his whole point is.
Trav…I wish I knew what you see in Evan. That just stymies me. But that’s what is so good about any contest. People see what others don’t. He’s got personality yes, but I think everyone else, even Melissa out dances him.
I thought the dance of the night was Kayla and Brandon’s contemporary. It was so unique and showed the power of both of them. It was just excellent. But their disco number left me sorta thinking what? I don’t know how the judges went so gaga over it. It didn’t seem to flow to me.
Melissa and Evan were okay in both of their’s. The broadway was all showmanship I thought. The quickstep was just okay also.
Jeanine and Ade were very good. I liked both of their dances. Jeanine is a real powerhouse and she can do just anything. As for Ade’s comment, I think that is just the frustration of learning what they are suppose to do.
The boy’s dance was the bomb and was a good way to start off the show. Trav again I don’t mean to pick on Evan, but I don’t think he’s quite as good as the other boys. I liked the girls dance real well also. All of them are so good. I noticed Jeanine getting sorta of embarrassed after Nigels comment on her costume. She kept covering up.
All this said, I’m going with Jeanine to win it all now, since my poor little Janette got the boot. I wish that they would judge it differently and not let America’s vote be the final say. Yes I know this is geared towards that but just once instead of it being a popularity contest I wish they would have the best dancer win. That said, if Brandon or Kayla win I would like that also. The three of them are my picks.

So I think I CAN dance! Comment numero uno!
I like Evan because he reminds me of the style of dancing in musicals from the 40s, 50s, and 60s. I love Gene Kelly and Donald O’Connor, and dancers in that style. And I like Evan’s personality.
I don’t think Brandon and Ade are “better” dancers. I watched the three of them leap and toss each other around the stage in that number, and I didn’t see Evan struggling to keep up. I think the three of them are different and that we all like what we like.
That’s why I try to remember to say what I liked and what I thought was good, rather than declare what’s good. I don’t have a trained eye, even though for some styles I do know specific things about what it’s supposed to look like. But what I think is good isn’t always what others think is good.
If the purpose is to find America’s “best” dancer, then we can’t go looking at undiscovered amateurs. You’ll find the “best” dancers on Broadway or in other professional projects. And if they want to find America’s “best” amateur dancer, then they’ll have to have the judges pick. That would still be a fun show to watch, but it’s just not the way this show was conceived.
So I like Evan for the reasons I said. And I’m really glad you’ve been enjoying the show, and have discovered this passion for it.
Well I don’t have a trained eye either. By declaring to me, it’s the same as what you liked and what you thought, it’s your opinion so that what I think of when I declare. I’m not even pretending to be an expert at this. I just say what I like and what I don’t like. That’s all from a purely watching on TV type of person. And by finding the best I’m not saying either that it has to be a pro. Why can’t they find the best amateur. It was conceived to let America vote so it could get viewership and thus make money. What bums me out is that sadly, as in AI the best dancer, in my lame opinion, might not be the winner because it’s just a popularity contest now. Understood about Evan now. . I think Brandon is a much better dancer than Evan myself, again, that’s just my declaring what I think from what I see on the tube. It’s an opinion.
Congrats to the 4 finalists. It’s going to be a super show. I didn’t know that Chelsie Hightower was on SYTYCD. That’s awesome because she was so good with Ty. Thanks for the info. Trav I hope Evan does well. I’m gonna pick here and now and I want Jeanine to win. Any one of them I will be happy just because all of them are winners if you ask me. This is one show that I truly enjoy a great deal and the work and all they do is just awesome. It’s a great inspiration. Happy Positive Day, 2009

i am rooting for evan but i think he may not be the #1 dancer. as travis said, i love his style of dance. i was not surprised that melissa went. such a graceful dancer but i dont think she appealed to the voters so much. i was stunned when ade went instead of evan. i was steeling myself to have my guy kicked off and he went through to the final. i think jeanine will win too however. next week will tell the tale… cant wait.

So behind on my commentary … I am very happy with the final four, considering who was left. (I’m still a little frustrated about Janette. lol) Personally, I haven’t connected with Jeanine, much in the way that you don’t connect with Evan. But that’s the thing, it’s SO subjective. This is art, and tastes differ. I don’t think the ideas of Favorite Dancer and Best Dancer have to be mutually exclusive. Unless there’s a conspiracy to keep someone they think is bad in the contest (like has happened in American Idol), I would think that everyone is voting for whom they think is “Best.” The question is how are they defining “best?” I have many variables in my equation: technique, partnering, versatility, acting, musical interpretation, teamwork, and attitude. For me, that’s Brandon, but really, they’re all so good that I wouldn’t be surprised by any result.
Well I tend to agree with you but I still wish they could have the judging be for who is the best dancer. I think that a lot of people vote on looks and personality only. But hey, that’s America. I am to not going to be upset by anyone one of them winning. They all are winners if you ask me
