So You Think You Can Dance – Week of 6/8/09
I’m not going to retype my comments that I make on another blog I follow. I’m just going to cut and paste it here:
I swear to god Mary drives me absolutely nuts. That screaming is enough to drive a square peg through a round hole. And please don’t tell me she does that train thing every episode? I thought it must be something she does because Nigel had the earphones on. She is the most annoying person. I could rant about her forever but I’ll stop. Give me strength someone. That Cat has got to be one tall leggy woman. She does have legs for days. I don’t think many of those dancers are taller than her. Very nice I must say. Now some questions if you don’t mind. Do they stay with the same pairing until the top 10? And when they get to the top 10 do they dance individually? I’m assuming there isn’t a boy winner and a girl winner. I suppose that everyone knows if you get paired with someone that doesn’t dance well, aka Shawn on DWTS, that the public can keep them in there, but then I suppose we have the judges who know they are looking for dancing and not the popularity contest so many of these shows are. Anyway, I really liked Caitlin and Jason. Just awesome. I like you had to rewind my DVR to focus on Jason the second time around as I was enthralled by Caitlin. Ashley and Kupono were just as good. I loved what they did. Kayla and Max were just as good as well. All those young kids were excellent I must say. I really enjoyed them all and this is so much better than DWTS. Does someone have a muzzle I can borrow for a judge named Mary? Aloha

they dance with partners for quite a while now. if someones partner gets voted off tonight – one girl and one boy – then the 2 that are left will partner up. i dont know how long that lasts…. when it gets toward the end they separate and everyone just dances alone. my faves were the last 2 that danced… the girl in the pink dress and the dude from russia…. i think they are the best… however they are all good. i cant get over how good they all are for just getting started. its so good, and i love mary…. she is so funny. i agree with you that this is better than DWTS….
So then I take it they don’t leave as a couple then tonight? That they can break them up…hmmm interesting…I HATE MARY
Actually, they keep the current pairs until Top 10 unless one partner is eliminated. Then they continue to dance in random pairs until Final 4, which is top 2 guys and top 2 gals. In the final performance show, they all dance with each other…both guys, both gals, and then in alternating guy/gal pairs.
How can one partner be eliminated if they keep the same pairing until the top 10?
The judges eliminate a dancer. Sometimes it’s a pair and sometimes it’s not.

Well… I came in late. Only got to see the last two performances. I wish I had seen the whole thing with the people dressed all in white. That looked kinda interesting. I liked the Russian guy as well. This show is a bit more lively than DWTS. Should keep from getting sooo dull towards the end. But to be honest… I am not sure I can sit thru a whole season of that idiot womans screaming. I think all of the judges are annoying. That queen who was almost brought to tears makes me sick! The other dude is okay… kinda Simonesque. What did they do a search for the most annoying celebs in Hollywood to be judges???
No shit dean…you are so right about the judges especially that Queen LOL. I wish you would have seen Caitlin and Jason doing the Egyptian dance…was awesome
To BlueEyedWeiner…The “idiot woman” is a giant in the world of ballroom dance. The “other dude” is the creator and executive producer of the show, as well as a respected dancer and choreographer. “That queen” is an award winning director, producer, and dancer. It’s fine if you don’t like them. But the judges on this show are extremely well credentialed individuals, not simply “the most annoying celebs in Hollywood” that could be found.
The only one I don’t like is Mary and Trav you have well known that since this started. LOL
I know. Every once in awhile a screech gets to me. LOL! But she’s no idiot.
Trav…my whole family is very opinionated…they just as do I use these terms loosely. We dont’ mean they are Idiot’s or Queens, well maybe so, but it’s nothing really deragatory. We just write with a lot of colorful words. I for one resepct them. Nigel is like Simon, Mary, is in a world of her own and the third judge acts like a queen if you ask me. I love it because he’s so into his profession. So no harm was menat my friend. Except for my ears and the fricking Mary LOL

Trav…thank you so much…it all now makes sense to me…FINALLY…and my mom called and told me after it aired (she’s in Nevada and I had already known the results from online) how the voting goes cuz we talked about this and I said Trav left a comment and said about they go out as a couple in less one of the partners gets voted off…that didn’t make any sense to me and then my mom told me about the judges vote. So now it makes sense. I understand you take on Mary. I really do and it makes sense that those kids yearn for that…I see that now…she is just so annoying. You know I’m very loud but nothing like her. I’m going to keep the faith about what everyone says about her and just try and tune her out…unless a muzzle shows up in the mail LOL. I for one am glad that Tony is out. I didn’t like him and was sorta shocked he made it in the top 20…it’s a good thing that ballet boy that was under contract wasn’t released or I don’t think he would have made it. Paris, I think because of being paired with him, got a bum rap with the voting public and again with the judges just because she was paired with him. They were my least favorite. I loved that tango couple.
Congrats to your Lakers. 3 down 1 to go. Was a great game today. Orlando blew it…I was sorta shocked.

Trav’s Thoughts: Results with encores
Travis… I did not intend to offend. I have never seen or heard of any of these judges. Had no idea they were such a big deal in the entertainment industry. OBVIOUSLY not “idiots”. But I dont see how anyone could debate how annoying they are. I can only assume they are an aquired taste.
Too bad we’re not playing a betting game on this one! I picked both people to be voted off this week. Just from the wrap ups. If only I had been that good at the A I game!

after watching american idol, so you think you can dance, dancing with the stars and even so you think you’ve got talent, i have to agree with laurie who says that it seems like those who dance early or do their skit early are the first ones to get kicked off. i think placement in the show is very very important…. i think the judges have something to do with that. i felt they didnt like tony much from the very beginning and sure enough he was the first to go….. makes you wonder !!!!
Oh I don’t think so. I think they draw straws or something like that. Tony wasn’t good and he was lucky to make it to the top 20 anyway
