I started to blog circa August 2008. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, how to do it, what I needed tool wise, anything. I researched on my trusty computer and decided to go with Blogger. It was first and foremost free and that’s why I chose it. My blog is a lot of cutting and pasting of other articles on TV shows I watch and like to make comments on. It’s fun and was going along great. However, I did notice that other blogs had a lot of things that I didn’t know how to do in Blogger.
One of the first influences on my swtich to WordPress was from Capsun. You can visit his site, Capsun’s Corner. He does a lot of blogging about politics and about Hawaii. Really he blogs about any topic that suits his fancy. I don’t agree with a lot of his politics but I sure have learned a lot and enjoy his blog a great deal. He answered all my questions I had about the switch to WordPress. To tell you the truth, he is the reason I decided to make the switch. So that’s why I did it and haven’t looked back. I will always be grateful to him and I wish him the very best with his blog and his up coming marriage.
Capsun subscribes to another blog who is my second influence with WordPress. Quilly blogs about a lot of different topics. She is a wonderful writer and her topics are mostly on the lighter side. She makes them fun and entertaining. She even has a contest every Monday that is great to play. She also answered all my questions I had about WordPress without any hesitation. No Capsun, I wasn’t double checking your answers to me, but just getting more opinions. LOL Quilly’s site Quilly’s Pacific … Paradise? is great fun and always entertaining.
The last and most important influence is from Bert. You can visit either one of his sites Web Considerations and Bert Hixson. I bet I have have emailed him 100 times and each and every time no matter how redundant, technical, lame, or confusing I make my question, he always answers. He has fixed my theme to what I want and has basically made me understand blogging much better than I thought I ever would. I had so many questions to him on a daily basis that I suggested in one he take Super Bowl Sunday off. Just knowing how busy I was keeping him, let alone his other customers and his life in general must have been overwhelming. He took it off and I’m glad he did. Anyway I couldn’t have struck it richer. He is a wealth of information. Yes he does charge for big changes but it’s well worth it. He also hosts and I’m going to switch to him very soon. I urge you to check out his sites.
The thing that amazes me the most, is I was a total stranger to these three people and from all the help they have given me, you would have thought I have known them for years. And what else is striking is I have never met them in real life but being in such contact with them over the internet it’s like I have. I’m grateful to you all and hope we have an everlasting friendship.
A Hui Ho

Yo! Speaking of meeting in real life, has Capsun said anything to you about the Unconferenz? It is in HAwaii Kai this weekend and, if registration is still open, I will be attending. I assume Capsun will be there since he was urging me to come.
