Friday's Fave Five

Today is Friday’s Fave Five. It is hosted by Living To Tell The Story. If you click on the picture above you can get the instructions for FFF. Your hostess of the mostess is Suzanne and I thank you for hosting. :) So here is this weeks FFF:

  1. Saturday I helped my neighbor, Dee, put a new screen door up. It took us a while as I’m not very mechanically inclined or building inclined, but we got it done early evening and had a couple of glasses of wine to celebrate. It’s still holding up as of today…YEAH!!!
  2. Sunday after work I went to my friend, Lisa’s house. We watched the womens college basketball game (Oklahoma vs Pitt). It was a good game. She had made Chuk and it was great. I always enjoy my time with her. Good luck also today, April 2, 2009, with your interview for the Lieutenant’s position at HPD. I know you will do well.
  3. Monday…I finished my taxes and everyone else who I do every year. I’m so glad that chore is done.
  4. Wednesday I had my company physical and passed with flying colors. Good to go for another two years.
  5. Thursday, my eyes are good to go now also. I had my doctor’s visit. The last time, and I’m ashamed to admit this, was 7 years ago when he did my lasik surgery on my eyes. They’ve been great ever since. But the older I get I can’t see close up without glasses or something. And I was stunned to find out, which I’m trying, there are bi-focal contacts. WOOT…I can still hide my age.

So that was my week and my favorite things. Have a great Friday and rest of the weekend.

It’s always so wonderful to hang out with friends. Also happy to hear that you passed your physical.
Have a great day and weekend too.

  2. Jientje says:

Quality time with friends and neighbours is great. Good health and perfect eyesight is precious.

But why would you want to hide your age?
    ;-)

    Have a great weekend Thom!

  3. How wonderful of you to help your neighbor hang her screen door. That’s a difficult task. I’d definitely need some wine afterwards.

Congratulations on completed taxes and stellar health reviews. If youuuuu … haven’t got your health, you haven’t got anything. [Name that movie? :-) ]

    • Thom says:

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest? LOL. I dunno. I’m not very much of a movie buff. And you are right about the health. Thanks for stopping by and have a good weekend :)

    • Thom says:

Just make sure it’s buttered. :) I don’t watch movies very often to be honest with you. Reason being I fall asleep, start snoring and drool. I have the attention span of a gnat. And if there are no commercials that I can fast forward through to keep me busy that’s what happens. Even live TV I have a hard time staying awake.

What a great neighbor you are and how fun to celebrate when the job is done! Oh isn’t the feeling you get when you’ve finished your taxes wonderful?! I’m always so relieved!!
    Have a fun weekend…

  5. Brenda says:

One of the hard things about growing older is having to use glasses, its a bummer!

But it sounds like a great week!

  6. So glad to hear the door didn’t fall down. LOL. Nice of you to help out a friend.

I’ve never heard of Chuk. Sounds delish from reading that recipe link.

Yeah for taxes being done. That’s always a relief. And yeah for bifocal contacts. If I could wear contacts I’d be looking into those too.

    • Thom says:

Thanks for commenting. I do appreciate it. And it’s sorta hard to get use to these bifocal contacts…My vision from the Lasik was so clear for distances and these take away from it a little. Have a good weekend :)

  7. Willow says:

Great fave fives. It’s always good when you get a clean bill of health. I used to wear contacts, wow, I wish I were still a condidate for the contact bi focals (can’t hide my age anymore).

  8. juliejean09 says:

quite a week thom. you are so sweet to help people with door hangings and tax returns. so happy that your checkup went so well and dont complain about having to wear contact bi-focals (i didnt even know they existed til you told me yesterday) as long as your eyes are healthy and you can see with the contacts in… xoxoxoxo

    • Thom says:

And if anyone knows all the problems you can get with eyes it’s you. I hope your last shot works well. Love you Ma and have a great weekend.

  9. Jerri says:

Sounds like a good week for you! Good for you to help out your neighbor with the screen door. And it’s always good to get those pesky doctor appts. out of the way. But the thing I relate to the most: getting taxes done. I just feel so relieved when it’s over!

    • Thom says:

Isn’t that the truth. They should make it easier to do. I mean Turbo Tax is easy…but you still have to think LOL. I just wanna put down numbers…talk about the lazy man’s way. Have a great weekend.

  10. Cherie says:

Isn’t always great to get that tax thing out of the way. It’s such a weight. And bi-focal contacts?! Sounds like witchcraft to me! LOLOL

    • Thom says:

LOL…I think it is. My sister was telling me when I was in Nevada she watched a show on how they make contacts. Bausch & Laumb (sp). Anyway it’s in Ireland and fully automated and the biggest thing that they had to come up with was how to make little holes in them so the eye can breath. Must have been fascinating. Have a great weekend. :)

  11. Nessa says:

I had no idea you were so vain; D

  12. Fandango says:

Looks like you had a good week.

  13. Melli says:

You mean Lasik’s not PERMANENT??? They keep trying to talk me INTO this procedure and it’s not even gonna keep me from glasses FOREVER??? *whew* Thanks for lettin’ me IN on that little secret! Sheeeeesh!

Congrats on that whole screen door thing!

    • Thom says:

Yes Melli it is permanent. I had my done 7 years ago. At the time I decided that I need to see at great distances since I drive the bus. So that’s what they did. The could have made it so it was like 1/2 for far and 1/2 for near, so to speak, but I didn’t want to give up the clarity seeing far away. But, since you have only reached sweet 16 and never been kissed, you must not know that with age, your ability to see close goes by the wayside. So what they have done is give me a bifocal lense that isn’t very strong because of the CDL we have to have a certain level of depth perception. So my vision to see far away is still clear but not as clear as it was before I put the lense on. Aint’ old age grand? Oh yeah, you wouldn’t know that :)

  14. Jientje says:

Thom, can you do me a favour?
Can you surf to my blog and check if you can see it?
There should be a new post titled ” walk on”
I just got an email from Gattina, saying she can only see the header and my profile, and that sounds scary. Can you check this for me?

  15. Thom says:

The post came up in my google reader and when I check on the header (Walk On) it took me directly to your site and everything looked normal to me. It was wonderful :)

  16. Barbara H. says:

Wow, sounds like a great week! Getting taxes done is a relief, and getting a clean bill of health is great. My oldest son is considering lasik surgery.

    • Thom says:

Thanks Barbara. I would strongly suggest he do it. I haven’t ever had a problem with it. On the other hand my sister hated that she got it done. Says it didn’t work out correctly. Hope it goes well if he decides. Keep us posted on it :)
