Today is Friday’s Fave Five. It is hosted by Living To Tell The Story. If you click on the picture above you can get the instructions for FFF. Your hostess of the mostess is Suzanne and I thank you for hosting.
So here is this weeks FFF:
My 5 things are going to end this week on Wednesday my last day with my family in Nevada. If anything happens the rest of the day or tomorrow, Thursday, oh well.
1. On Saturday my Mom and I had three different places to go to all starting after noon. Two where parties and one was to go see my Aunt and Uncle. We got to Indica’s party around 1-1:30 and stayed for a couple of hours. It was fun. Lots of pizza and kids there. Very cold because a storm was blowing into Carson. We then went down to my Aunt and Uncle’s to see how he was doing. Still in a lot of pain but doing better as far as moving around. Then we went out to a 40th birthday party of one of my Sisters friends. Was real fun, Held in this huge barn (and yes there were heaters). We left sort of early and my Sister wanted to stay. So off we go and before we get out of the area she’s calling wanting to leave also because she had hurt her back. Slipped off a step (and keep in mind the storm was starting to reach and it was raining heavy outside). We turn around and go get her and my Mom and I drop them off at the house, go to Jack In The Box and both have Ultimate Cheeseburgers. My Sister is fine but what I got a kick out of was Mom wanting an Ulitmate Cheeseburger. It was fun and I enjoyed it.

2. This relates almost to No. 1 above because it’s all about the weather. The storm was blowing in from Saturday night and when I woke up Sunday morning the ground was covered in snow. It was amazing and I was pleased that it did that but glad by noon it had almost melted away. That evening we went out to dinner with my Cousin Dean and his friend Steve to a chinese place. It was fun and food was good. Steve has cancer in the nasal passages and is currently undergoing chemo and radiation. He’s got a great attitude and I wish him all the best.

3. Monday, I sort of invited Mom and myself down to my Aunt and Uncle’s for dinner as I know I only have one more night in Nevada and I wanted to see them. So down we go. Mom brought them a bottle of wine for dinner. My Aunt cooked a great Pork Roast, had mashed potatoes, asparagus, gravy, salad and rolls. Dinner was delicious. Uncle Bob even got to the table for a while to eat and sit with us. He’s going much better every day. The meal and company was great.

4. Tuesday, we take Rod, my Mom’s companion of I would say 25 plus years to dinner as it was his 79th birthday. Poor Rod has dimensia and doesn’t remember a whole lot anymore, but he brought my Mom many years of happiness. They traveled to a lot of places and have some great memories. So it’s the least we could do is take him to dinner. Mom see’s him still every week. He’s in a assisted living home in Reno. So Mom, Laurie, Renee and I went to Reno and took him to Red Lobster. Was a great dinner and the waiters even sang happy birthday to him and gave him a piece of cake and ice cream after dinner. Took him home, went back to Carson, dropped the girls off, Mom and I went home, watched All My Children, which we both watch everyday and discuss it via email, phone or Google Talk. Don’t ask. I finally talked Mom into letting me tell her who got the boot from Dancing With The Stars cuz we had to get to bed as I had an early plane to catch. She relented and thank goodness Dianne got the boot.

5. Wednesday morning I have the alarm set for 4 am as my flight leaves at 6:20 and we have to go from Carson to Reno (about half hour drive). Well I’m up at 1 am, after finally getting to bed around 10:30 pm the night before. I guess my body knew I was going. Around 2:30 – 3 am I get a text message from United letting me know my flight is on schedule for it’s 6:20 am departure. By the way, I used my frequent flier miles and upgraded to First Class all the way from Reno to Honolulu. Was that great. Plenty of leg room and a free breakfast (omlette) from SFO to HNL. I hear mom rustling around in her room and say Ma you awake? 3 am mind you. Yup she reluctantly is awake. I say you want coffee? Yup she does. I go out, make the coffee we get up talk about the visit. I tell her Laurie my Sister is coming up to go to Reno with us. She wants to know why and I tell her Laurie and I have decided she needs the company as she’s going to be alone in the house for the first time since my Grandmother died and we just feel that she needs the company. They drop me off about 5:15 in reno, we say our tearful goodbyes and right now I’m writing this on my little Netbook about 38000 feet above the Pacific with about two hours to go until landing in Honolulu. Ma is doing great and so is the rest of the family. Glad they have each other.

Might have been long but those last few days were the most memorable of my week and again I say thank you to my family and friends. You were awesome and I love you dearly. So there you have it.
HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!!!!

Family, great food, and lots and lots of happy and warm moments with people you love. Who could ask for more?
Have a great weekend!
PS, what exactly does Mahalo mean? I think it’s something like “hello”, is that right?
Thank you so much my Belgian Bombshell. Mahalo means thank you. Aloha means hello and goodbye. How do you say Thank you and Hello and Goodbye in Belgium?
Thank you = Dank u
Hello = hallo
Goodbye = dààààg!
I saw you had trouble adding your link at Suzanne’s, so I added it for you!
That’s okay, that’s what friends are for!
Aloha!
Dank u my Belgian Bombshell. I don’t know what the problem was so I just gave up LOL.
PS – if I just typed daaag would that be okay? I don’t have those things to put above the a unless I use ‘
You don’t have those thingies? You know what? Just say dadaaa! Yep, say dadaaa!
No I don’t. I have an English keyboard LOL so if I did it it would be da’a'a’a'g That’s as close as I could make it at least I think. Maybe someone will read this and say you dumb old fool Thom you do it like this ROFLMAO But until then dadaaa
oops I mean dank u
You had a very busy time, but it does sound wonderful.
Thanks Nessa…yes it was busy but I enjoyed it
Looks cold up there near Carson City and Reno! That is a beautiful area though.
Sounds like a good week.
It is pretty up there and was very busy. Mahalo for stopping by. Have a great weekend.
How wonderful that it all involves family. Your Mom is beautiful
Family is very important to me and I’m sure everyone else. Yeah my mom is beautiful not only on the outside but the inside as well
Thank you for commenting Dianne…much appreciated.
You had a really really great week! I’m impressed that you wrote your post high above the earth. Isn’t it amazing that we have the technology and ability to do things like that?
One of my best friends was a ‘production editor’ for 12 years for All My Children, until last summer. If you watched a teaser on the show, you watched her work.
Oh wow Willow…how cool. I’ve been watching that show since it’s inception. Yes what would we do without technology today. Thanks for commenting. I really appreciate it
What an eventful week! I’m glad you had such great visits and safe travels.
Thanks a lot Barbara. It was a sad but wonderful trip.
Sounds like a busy busy week. Glad you had some family time
Yes it was nice. Thanks for stopping by.
Though the reason that you were there wasn’t nec optimal, it looks like you had the opportunity for some great family time. It’s so great to see how you’re all taking care of each other. And first class from Reno to Honolulu, excellent!
Indeed Cherie. It was healthy for the whole family. And First Class…lemme tell ya…not worth the price. Although I just used my miles from United. How days the first class meal is what you use to get in coach and in coach you pay $9.00 for a small, cold, box meal. Oh well…better than nothing. The leg room was great I must admit
My Belgian Bombshel, Brenda, Cherie, Barbara H, Dianne, Brenda and Willow I have proudly added you all to my blogroll and my google reader.
Thom — I am so glad you had a wonderful time with your family. You are right, now that the family gathering is over, your mom is going to have a lot of time on her hands. You might want to call more often for awhile. Oh, and you could always encourage her to blog with us. That’s a major time eater!
Yeah I’ve been calling her. And her blogging? Quilly I say open your browser and she says what’s that? LOL. I’ve been over it a hundred times. I just hope she participate in here more frequently now that she has more time on her hands. I think she will
Thanks for your words Quilly…as usual…they mean a great deal to me
Wonderful that you could be together during this time. Nice that you had snow that didn’t last too long! Your time at home makes me think of what happens when I visit my family — constant eating!
Have a great week getting back into your routine!
Oh Jerri…no truer words were never spoken. My mom always makes sure that and worries that I have eaten. But it’s enjoyable. And yes I’m glad the snow only lasted about 1/2 day. Mahalo for stopping by and I added you to my reader and blogroll
Have a great weekend.
What a wonderful list, Thom … and pictures, too!
I love spending time with family. It sounds like you had a full and fun trip.
Mahalo for stopping by Lisa. I really appreciate it. Thanks also for your kind words. I thought the pictures added just the right touch
Awwww! What a great week you all had together! I know your Mom loved havin’ her boy home! I always love havin’ my kids here!
Mahalo Melli. Very much appreciated and for my mom’s sake I’m glad I stayed an extra week
It sounds like you had a wonderful time with your family and friends, Thom and have many happy memories to take home to Hawaii with you. Too bad you couldn’t take some snow with ya! LOL. I’m glad to hear your uncle is doing well and very glad to hear your sister didn’t hurt herself badly.
Well I must say I’m glad the snow stayed behind…brrrrrrrr. Yes I did have a great time and glad everyone is doing well. Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate it
How long was the flight? It sounds like you had a lovely time with your family. Ours gets together about once a year at our home for Thanksgiving. Last year we had thirty!
I have a small family with just one sister and not aunts, uncles or cousins. Kind of lonely. That’s why I love my hub’s family so much.
If you can believe this we got in one hour early. Usually going west you fly into the winds and it takes forever. You know it doesn’t really matter how small…it’s what you make of it. Your hubby is lucky to have you
Thank you so much for coming by.
