Devon’s Surprise
Samantha was something else to look at. A real bacchante. Eight inch long, lucious legs which were isangelous no matter what view you had of her. Eyes that sparkled like diamonds and made you would think you were looking into a treasure of numismatics. Her body was svelte and firm. The rich red and brown coloring on her created a fracas everywhere she walked. She was so sure of herself all the time that others felt as if they were queachy. Not a member of the voligrant society this girl. She turned heads everywhere she went and just had an air about her. Real perspicacious. Never opprobrious or casuisitry by any stretch of the imagination. She commanded a crowd when she walked and all could hear the music of a zither playing softly as she strutted her stuff.
Gracie could sense apanthropinization from Devon about herself. He was awestruck by the beauty and, not to her liking, was already beginning to think teterrimous thoughts about that creature. She knew she had to stop these zoilist ideas immediately and keep an eye out for the cynicocratical bird of prey because it had become clear to her, that Devon wasn’t going to make sure they were not food in someone’s belly, letting out a huge sternutation at the same time. Gracie watched Devon jump quickly to Samantha with the Lightning Bug in hot pursuit.
“Hey Samantha” the Lightning Bug spouted. “This here be…” turning his head quickly “…Yo what you say you and your lady friends name were?”
“Devon” he grinned “and that be Gracie over yonder” he said nervously, feeling him getting red with melliflous thoughts of Samantha, or was it the heat from the bright red fire ball in the sky he wondered.
“Pleased to finally meet you” Samantha responded coyly sliding out from behind the braids of silk.
“Finally?” Devon questioned
“I’ve been watching you and Gracie for months Devon. I just never had the chance to meet the two of you.” Continuing. “I think you are a lovely couple. You always watch out for her. Protect her. You are like two peas in a pod,” smiling and responding as if she had rehearsed these lines right from an anopisthograph.
Devon, upon closer inspection of the beauty, thought he had seen her before. But he had dismissed this quondam idea long ago all because of his love for Gracie, whom slithered over to join the group and keep an eye on this woman.
“Gracie. Samantha. Samantha. Gracie.” the Lightning Bug chimed in.
“Pleased” Samantha said pleasantly.
“Likewise” Gracie responed and had to jibber her hitonious thoughts.
From the warming sky above the bird of prey was watching every move of this foursome. She also spotted Oscar watching the them from the banks of the stream. The paucity of food she had for her young ones today was becoming unbearable to her as she listened from atop the emerald green Pine tree that bore her abode and nested her young. They were screaming for food and she knew she had to do something. She knew this was the time to make her move. Taking her eyes away from her squawking young she saw movement approach the group.
“Howie” the Lightning Bug yelled. Then whistled as loud as he could.
“Good thinking” Samantha approved.”Devon, Gracie. The Lightning Bug knows me too well. I have something for you both of you. I’ve been wanting to give this to you for a while and now is my chance.’ she stated looking above and not seeing the bird of prey flying around yet also unaware that she was watching them from the beautiful nest she had lovingly built for her young.
Feeling the earth start to tremble, Devon grabbed and held onto Gracie for dear life.
“What is going…Who is that? ” looking startled and holding his trembling love.
Oh the life of a bloodhound.

I love the way you anthropomorphise your creatures.
Thank you Nessa after I googled anthropomorphise LOL
Most impressive! Though I will admit that use of ALL the words is getting beyond me.
Thanks Cherie…I’m debating whether to continue with all the words all of the time. I’ve started doing it though and if I quit doing it it seems to me I would loose something unique that I do with these posts so I dunno
Now, I feel like we’re all ganging up on you. Using all the words is quite a spectacle, an amazing feat to say the least. (But it will be easier to understand if it’s not as “challenging” to we lessor folks.)
Lessor folks my behind. LOL. You know when we started this I wondered how I would ever remember them and the meaning. Isn’t it amazing you through words we dont’ use in our everyday life and it makes things harder? I thought that no one, except new readers would have a problem as we use them weekly. Then after today I realize that no one else is using all the words all the time so they escape from our usage and it makes it more difficult to understand. So this was a good lesson for me. It’s not the writing and gettting them into the story as I’ve done it since the beginning…it’s making it enjoyable and easy to everyone else. So I appreciate these comments a great deal and am glad everyone started to mention it
Every week you suffarcinate your Quilly story with quondam words. I suggest the summotion of the most traboccant of them.
But the story was great.
I’ve have spent 1/2 hour looking on the web for suffarcinate and traboccant and can’t find them. I even looked in the only dictionary in the house. No luck. But what I’m assuming (and we all know that makes an ass out of you and me but what the hell) is that I should stop using all the words and just use some. Anybody that would like to chime in on this and help me with the words…please do. Thanks for the comment Dr. John. I think you and Cherie are on to something
This is hilarious.
“jibber her hitonious thoughts”
hmmmm…. I need to remember that one!
Glad you liked it Dawn. Yeah I’m going to try and remember that saying also
This is getting REALLY complicated for me. You see, I’m not really with the story from the beginning, and I have the hardest time trying to figure out who is who? Or should I say, who is what? Maybe you could do a who is who/what on top of the post or something?
And the use of all of the words … Hmmm, don’t know?
Pardon me my nescience?
See the search in the upper left of my blog (in the sidebar) do a search for Devon (his name is in all the titles) and you will see all the Devon stories. And you are number three about using all the words so I think I’m going back that down. I thought it would be fun, but when reading something becomes a chore…that takes the fun out of it. nescience…hmmm i’m stumped on that one my little Belgian Bombshell
ROFL!! Why do you call me a bombshell?
It’s slang for a beauty of a person. Think of Marilyn Monroe or Elizabeth Taylor. It’s a sophisticated beauty and when I see your site it’s the first thing that always comes to my mind.
Hmmm, I think I like that. *sails off on a pink cloud*
Whoooooo *me is relieved*
suffarcinate v 1656 -1656
to load up; to stuff
His daughter suffarcinated the moving van with a hoard of old clothing, to his chagrin.
traboccant adj 1651 -1654
superabundant; excessive
Your traboccant generosity will no doubt be repaid twice over by the award recipients.
Mahalo Dr. John. You are the bomb!!! I’m very perspicacious with this issue now
You did not leave me those definitions?
Check No. 6 under definitions above
thom, you are amazing! using all the words and making the story make sense… wow!
however, i’m with others… you might consider leaving some of the words out
Thank you Juliana. Consider it done. You are the 4th and as I said to Jientje I wanna keep this fun, not a chore
Thom — you are a special treasure. I am so glad we met!
Now, you could try dropping words one week at a time. Use only the current two or three weeks. You could try using only those words which fit easily into your story and leaving out those you have to work harder at to get in. You could do what I did and give up in exhaustion — oh wait, you’ve been on vacation.
Okay Okay Okay…You win. I was trying to keep it as the theme but it is getting hard. Have you ever thought about getting easier words perhaps? LOL
Another cliff-hanger! Dr. John is probably proud of you for that, but I agree with the others – -these are my words and your story is getting too hard to read!
Oh you gest…you are sick I can tell
Wow! All those words piled on top of each other. Dragons are lucky if we can handle three but ours are posted now.
The Dragon Master has spoken and this will be the last post with all the words
I had this cringe in my stomach when I hit publish this morning. Way too much BIG words I thought. It’s fun for those who are in on the game but to others we could just as well be blogging in Russian! We might end up chasing the rest of our readers away, and that’s not what we want eh?
That is so true so everyone is making a good point
By the way, this might interest you:
the story about my nickname.
From my very early days of blogging in English, so please pardon my possible miss spellings and strange vocabulary!

What a wonderful story and I’m glad you decided to keep it and start blogging with it. It will be special to you for the rest of your life and to all of us.
English was fantastic
Me is relieved too!

I don’t care about which words you use and which you don’t!
What happens next?????
I think you do a fantastic job Thom! I’m not doing these so I refer to your definitions.
I just continue to love this story.
Thank you so much. That’s much appreciated as you can see the comments weren’t on the story per sey this week but more on how I present it. But it’s a learning experience and I’m just glad people take the time to read here. You are real sweet Carletta to say what you did. Stay tuned for next weeks
ROFLMBO! I lost track of the words long ago! I just read through the story and PRETEND like I know what they mean – and it reads just fine! LOL! And I see Dr. John came back to the rescue with the definitions of his words — but you really have to watch OUT for him – because he makes SOME of them UP you know…
thank you Melli. It’s gonna be different next week and thank you for pointing out that trecherous trickster. No wonder I couldn’t find the words.
OH! But I WILL say this… because I just HAVE to… because NO ONE ELSE will… (Lord, forgive me)… but in every story you use the word isangelous in a way that refers to being like ANGLES – or angular, or adjacent or something like that… but the definition is like ANGELS – you know – those spiritual beings with wings and halos? AAAAAAAAACK! I didn’t WANNA tell you! The devil made me do it! Nooooo… I DID wanna tell you — cuz I know you really DO wanna know. I would want somebody to tell me…
OMG Melli Thank you so much. I feel so stupid now but so grateful. I just saw that the first time and never thought about it again. You are so angelic for pointing this out. I’m amazed it didn’t happen earlier. Everyone must have thought the same as me? ROFLMAO. kisses to you for pointing this out to me. A true friend indeed. But I’m sure you’ve noticed I took a beating on this story because if the words. Next week a change is at hand. Plenty Mahalos to you.
Hi Thom. Wow, another awesome day with Devon and his friends. Great writing!! Ya, I must admit that I do agree with the general consensus as to the use of copious past words. You have really made it work to date… tho can you imagine in a few more weeks, or months? Let see… 3 words per week times, let say 52 weeks, that is 156 Quilly words in a year. You really would have to drop that at some point, and it sounds like now would be a good time. My hat is off to you for achieving this challenge to date, and I look forward to an easier-to-read story next week.
Well Alice I think after this week everyone is in agreement. Thanks for doing the math for me…it would be way to much. Thanks for your kind words also
However, Alice had a dang good point — you took the word inclusiveness further than every one else and did it dang well. Take a bow!
<———– bowing and then getting on the hard floor and ROFLMAO
